Prepping 2nd Show
So, we learned a lot from our first podcast and hope to incorporate those lessons into this next one. Primary is our desire to push the writing side of the podcast and/or funnel everything toward a writing slant. After all, in the bigger scheme of things we as writers don’t have any control over production values, budget, actors, etc. We control the story and that only up to a point once something gets sold. And so all that writing stuff, not production stuff, should be our focus since we are a writer-based team of podcasters although we do have other skills obviously.
An interesting offer came out of my “appearance” on the Le Laporte Show (http://techguylabs.com) – it’s something that came out of left field and is a great opportunity. We’ll (hopefully) be offering more on this later.
I don’t think we’re going to have a guest on this next ‘cast. … Read the rest
LibSyn vs. PodOMatic vs ??
I’ve settled on LibSyn to host the podcast for a bunch of reasons. This website is perfectly capable of doing everything that needs to be done using the Seriously Simple Podcasting plugin or any of about a dozen others that create most of what you need out of the box.
LibSyn has a great feature that allows me to connect a bunch of social media and this website to a podcast release. Once set up, I can post the podcast and the connections I made internally get the announcement. It has a way to create a post here automatically.
iTunes, which is the 800 pound gorilla of podcasting, is also a major consideration. LibSyn helps you get all that right.
At $15.00/month for the tier that is the least one you need (I’m finding out) I’m not thrilled but it’s reasonable enough to get us started.
But what a f*cking nightmare iTunes is. … Read the rest

After the 1st Show, Thoughts
What a great time we had. I think our enthusiasm for a 2nd show is even higher than the first. It was a long but satisfying experience.
Having said that, after listening to a rough mix from Toby, I feel like a few segments (mine) have to be cut:
- The Serling segment was lame because I didn’t give it enough work. I’ll revamp and try again next time. We’re cutting it.
- A lot of the chatter is just boring so that will be trimmed even further.
- We’d love to use all our guest’s material but it’s too long. We’re shooting for under and hour and even this rough cut is almost thirty minutes too long for that.
- I feel like we should cut the “Ratatouille” segment – I just didn’t do a good enough job seeking the insight I wanted from Miss SuperFan. But I’m outvoted. However it will be trimmed.
